Surfers Paradise

Drove down to Surfers Paradise early to avoid the expected traffic as the Gold Coast is hosting the Gold Coast 600 V8 Supercars race today. As it transpired, the traffic was quite light. People obviously have learnt from previous years and travelled up the day before or stayed the weekend. I'm  not actually going to the race but just want to enjoy a nice sunny day at the coast and soak up the petrol fumes :)

Went to my sisters and headed off for a nice egg and bacon fry up at a local coffee shop. Tasted yummy but did have some problem trying to explain what baked beans were....say what...?
The View from Joey's balcony
After breakfast we walked along the beach...it truly is a beautiful spot

Surfers Paradise Beach
We were heading to the Q1 building, the tallest residential building in the Southern Hemisphere they say - 230 meters high. The views are magnificent and next time I go I will do the Skypoint climb on to the roof. That's the building above - the centre one with the spire and also directly below. See the amazing views from the viewing platform below.

We walked to the Edge restaurant and had a bite of lunch.....this is the view from the deck we were sitting on. Boats could just pull up and "park" and pop in for lunch. Nice.

My nephew Scott is the smartest, handsomest, tallest lovely waiter there and looked after us very nicely :) (I am very unbiased though) - and that's my sister Joey on the left

We raced off from the restaurant - stealing Scott's car -  so we could get home quicker for the start of the V8 Supercar race and the aerobatic show by the Roulettes. The Roulettes were amazing but it was difficult to get  decent photo of their acrobatics so below is a stock picture. There were six of them and they did some very very fancy flying.
The Roulettes - no - the photo isn't upside down - the plane is

Had a lovely day out and the drive home was uneventful and not busy so time for feet up and a movie
